French France

So the IR (international relations) class that I was looking forward to is a lot more interesting and historical then i thought it was going to be. I am learning more about history now then I have in any of my classes at school. No offense, but it's true. We have to read about 50 pages a night and we will have finished the book by the 9th of July. Amazing huh. The weather is absolutely spectacular. 90 degrees and sunny, and not that humid although when it gets that hot humidity no longer matters. It's just HOT! So fun tidbit. The bus that we take to school every morning is "public transportation" is a tour bus (like we would have in the States). It's called the Crolard nicknamed the Crow and it is always late. Yesterday when we got to the bus stop some of the other girls thought that it was late because one saw the bus go by, as it turned out it wasn't our bus and ours was actually 5-10 minutes late! It is so much fun here and today we are going on our first hike! Apparently it is really beautiful, how can it not be, it's France!

In France!

Hey everyone!
So after an exhausting airport/airplane experience I am finally in France! We arrived in Talloires and 11:30ish. It is slightly overwhelming but overall exciting to met so many people. So I met 20 people at the Boston airport but then we knew that we still had to meet 8-9 more people. I met my roommate in Geneva and she is Swiss. She speaks German, English, French, and a little bit of Mandarin. I really like my roommate and we get along really well so I a mvery glad that this is the way things ended up. I really like all of the people on the trip. We took a tour of Talloires and it is absolutely gorgeous. The lake is perfectly situated between the mountains so everything looks perfect. It is gorgeous. The weather is perfect. Gabriella is the director and she is very nice and informative. She gave us some information on host families but all of the staff is very open and willling and availabel to help us in any way that they can. We are waiting for our host families to come pick us up between 4-6. Right now we are watching a french movie called the Visitor. It's like the french version of Monty Python. We don't have to get up until 11 tomorrow for the bus because our schedule is different for the first day. Tomorrow is more orientation. I am very excited for the rest of the trip but I am also very tired so I hope I get a good nights sleep. By the way there is a 6 hour times difference so we are 6 hours ahead.

Lianna's Homestay Panic (except not)

So yesterday I received an email explaining that I would be changing families for my home stay. Much to my amazement it all worked out for the best. I am now living in Menthon St. Bernard which is a smaller town then Annecy the first town I was going to live in. I am living with a family in whihc the dad is a sommelir and the mom is a child care professional. They have two daughters ages 14 and 11! And a dog!!! Google images of Menthon St. Bernard. It's gorgeous. I also now have a roommate who I believe is going to school in Switzerland so that should be a lot of fun. As has been noted by various people I have been very calm about this change, which some of you may know is not neccesarily my forte. And for those of you out there worried about me over packing. Let your worries be released for I have successfully packed and without huge unwanted amounts of clothing. Yay!
